Global Custodian 20th Anniversary - New York City

On June 25, 2009, Global Custodian inducted its US-based legends into its Securities Services Hall of Fame, the first event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of the first issue of Global Custodian magazine in September 1989.

The Securities Services Hall of Fame Induction Dinner in New York City, and the preceding seminar, entitled, "Back to the Future: What the Past Can Tell Us About the Future of the Securities Services Industry," were sponsored by The Bank of New York Mellon, State Street and Brown Brothers Harriman.

The legends inducted into the Hall of Fame were drawn from global custody, sub-custody, central depositories, clearing houses, securities lending and financing, mutual fund administration, hedge fund administration, private equity fund administration and prime brokerage.

In choosing the legends, the editors of Global Custodian took an approach not dissimilar to the induction of baseball players into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, according to Dominic Hobson, editor in chief of Global Custodian.

"The men and women inducted into the Hall of Fame have shown a long record of service to the industry, outstanding effort, ability or innovation within it, and the finest personal qualities," says Hobson. "We have sought also to recognize individuals who are appreciated beyond their own firms and countries of origin, and who have made an unusual or marked contribution to the growth or development of the industry."

Profiles of these legends are being published on a rolling basis in Global Custodian magazine and on GlobalCustodian.com. For the US list, please click here.

The second induction dinner and celebration will be held in London on October 1.
